Abstract :
In this paper the study is trying to investigate the role of the content teachers’ on designing the English text book taught at SIU for the first year medical laboratory students. The book is designed on the bases of the standard characteristics of EFL/ESL textbooks and with the help of the key terms and texts provided by the content teachers. The methodology of the study is a text book evaluation checklist which is designed for sixty English language teachers. The results of the text book evaluation checklist reveal significantly that the role of the content teachers enriches the text book and makes it a good ESP text book and it hence enhances the students’ English proficiency.
