Abstract :
The reuse or recycling of raw materials is a process in which certain types of materials are routinely recognized as garbage or waste, collected from the streets by waste pickers or processing industries. The reduction of the acquisition of raw material, such as: sand, bark, lime scale among other materials, because for every 1 kilo of natural glass manufactured, another 1.2 kilo of recycled glass can be reused. The total decomposition in nature can occur in up to 1 million years, according to data from the National Association of GlazesANAVIDRO . Glass is a fragile material, but not weak. It has great resistance to rupture, and can even be used in hard and rigid floors, but not tenacious and not suitable for applications subject to impacts SHACHELFORD, 2008). This feature allows the large-scale use of glass in the industry, implying a large generation of waste. New research seeks to develop viable destinations for these wastes, making glass manufacturing more sustainable. The glass residue used in this monograph comes from the industry of transforming rearview mirrors for the automotive industry in the city of Manaus.
