Abstract :
According to the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) puerperal infection is any infection of the genital tract and / or microorganism isolation in the endometrium that occurred during the puerperium, in cases of cesarean section the risk factors are related to prolonged surgery time, accidental injury organ failure, emergency cesarean section, cesarean section after the start of labor, antibiotic prophylaxis not performed at the indicated time and dose The objective was identifying the available evidence on the role of nurses in puerperal infection in cesarean deliveries. The methodology was an integrative review of the literature in the electronic databases BDENF, LILACS and SCIELO, where articles were fully available from 2013 to 2019. Among the articles analyzed, 2.92% of users presented risk factors such as urinary tract infection, high blood pressure, obesity and smoking, HIV infection, syphilis, of which cesarean delivery was associated with 56% of early complications. This study showed that despite cesarean delivery being a safe and clean procedure, ISC-PC rates are very high. Thus, it is necessary to reduce the alarming number of cesarean procedures without indication, as well as to train the multidisciplinary team for infection control measures, patient safety protocols, as well as the continuity of post-hospital discharge assistance.
