Abstract :
The undeniable advances in technological innovations in several areas of activity are in inherent reality in the knowledge society. One of most used technologies in today’s world is artificial intelligence. However, when this is brought to the field of law, it is noted the existence of topics that need to be further clarified in the letter of the law. The present study aims to highlight the interface between artificial intelligence and the field of law. The theoretical essay was built based on studies that integrate the state of the art related to this theme. The sudy detected the existence of gaps and nodal points concernig the issue of the use of artificial intelligence in the legal area, such as: a) absence of regulatory legislation; b) error succeptibility of the algorithms, and; c) the possibility of aplying legal personality to robots. In view of these items, the study concluded that the need for aggregation of artificial intelligence in processes related to the organization of legal process is relevant. However, the advancement of these innovations to the decision-making field in the judgment of the actions brought puts as risk both the smoothness and the integrity of the deliberations. Thus, it is necessary to broaden the debate of this topic, as well to consolidate specific legislation that defines the limits of artificial intelligence not only in law but also in other activities that use this technology.
