Abstract :
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a disease that affects myeloid cells, causing increase leukemic cells number, thus the disease gets worse quickly. It occurs in both adults and children, but the incidence increases with age. It is characterized by clonal origin myeloid (cancer) cells abnormal proliferation accumulates in the bone marrow. There are some treatments proposed for AML, including bone marrow transplantation (BMT). In this study, a bibliographic review about the treatment of AML, from its pathogenesis to therapeutic resources application, highlighting the use of BMT was carried out. The disease general characteristics, post-transplant recurrence rate, and donation process were taken into account.
