Abstract :
This paper discusses the existence of different pathologies of asphalt pavements and their impacts on rolling conditions, directly damaging the traffic with comfort and safety of its users. These deficiencies were identified and classified, according to research based on the standards of the Department of Transportation InfrastructureDNIT 005/2003 and 2006 TER (Defects in Floors and Semi-Rigid Pavements - Terminology). In this way, the research has the purpose of approaching the defects found in highways, since the identification and characterization of these pathologies, helps in the choice of a solution for future correction. To assist in the elaboration of the work, bibliographical research was done on the materials used, execution forms, material specifications, types of asphalt paving, and data collection in the field. The collection of information for the analysis of the case study was carried out on a highway in the state of Amazonas, known as the Carlos Braga Highway, linking the city of Manaus to the municipality of Iranduba, where they were classified both individually and jointly. At the time of the research, it was verified that the highway presented several pathologies in which compromised its safe and comfortable traffic system, this way, affecting its main functionality.
