for a considerable portion of the population, requiring verification of
academic production from reality as innovative organizations. This
survey serves not only as elements for reflection, but is also useful in
the decision of managers, and can be extracted from databases in
general, such as journals, theses, dissertations, yearbooks and other
sources of technical or scientific nature; are publications that allow
readers to follow the progress and dissemination of scientific
discoveries and knowledge. In this context, it was taken as a general
objective to analyze the scientific production available on innovation in
Micro and Small Companies. As specific objectives: to characterize the
publication on the proposed theme regarding the type, authors and
bibliography used (1); identify the origin and distribution of research
on the theme (2); and classify the publications available as to their
main methodological elements applied (3). This motivation is based on
the following problem: What is the state of the art of scientific
production on innovation in Micro and Small Companies? Based on exploratory and descriptive research, with a mixed approach
(qualitative and quantitative), a Bibliometric Analysis of 100
publications was carried out to survey the State of the Art of the
thematic Innovation in Micro and Small Companies. As a result, there
was a concentration in the Periodic and Annals of Events modalities,
with emphasis on publications with the volume of a single author.
Likewise, there was a wide dissemination of these publications, with
no significant concentrations in any event or periodical. As for
methodological relations, there was a prevalence of qualitative
approach, bibliographic research method and case study, and
recurrent themes of innovation practices.
