Abstract :
Organizations increasingly need to develop new products and services on an continuous basis to maintain and increase their competitive advantage over the competition in the markets in which they operate. Multifunctional teams performs brainstorming generating ideas for new projects based on the proposed strategic objectives, creating a portfolio of potential business for the organization. The decision-making process in choosing and prioritizing the most promising projects presents uncertainties and risks, depending on a correct allocation of scarce resources and adequate strategic communication. Several models of project prioritization are known and available: Scoring model, AHP method (Analytic Hierarchy Process), bubble diagram and financial methods. A scoring model for selecting and prioritizing development projects for payment applications using a card machine is presented for an electronics company, with 11 evaluation criteria and practical application example, involving costs, complexity, potential profitability and market, level of information available, team knowledge of the market, easability in testing the solution, development time, easability of implementation with customers, level of required features and existing risks. At the end, 5 projects were chosen from a universe of 18 potential projects considered initially.
