Abstract :
The main objective of this article is to describe the clinical role of the pharmacist in the hospital environment in the effectiveness, safety and prevention of antibacterial resistance. Resistant bacteria have become a major public health problem, due to the consequences of increased morbidity, mortality and the length of time patients stay in the hospital, causing apprehension among the multiprofessional team, since the inappropriate use of antibiotics is directly related to this increased incidence of bacterial resistance. One of the most important factors of bacterial resistance is the continuous indiscriminate use of antibiotics, leading to high levels of resistance. Allied to this factor, the great importance of the pharmacist in the context of hospital infection related to bacterial resistance is observed. The methodology adopted for the development of the article was a literature review in several electronic contents in virtual libraries that deal with this theme, with numerous scientific articles that address the subject. The purpose was to group and analyze the results of the study, based on researches already published in the period from 2010 to 2021. It is concluded that it was evidenced by this study, that the pharmacy professional the rational use of antibiotics, acting directly in the effective guidance of this medication, in addition to instructing and promoting the quality of life of the patient with some infection.
